"Cannot Open Item" Error message
Periodically throughout the day when a user attempts to open an Email using Outlook he will receive an error message stating, "Cannot Open Item". If hewaits a couple of minutes he can open the same Email without any problems. This occurs with Emails which have attachments and also those which do not contain attachments. This problem is occuring with all users. We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and users are using Outlook 2003. The server and 2.5 Gig of RAM and has its file devided between the C: and D: drives. The C: drive contains the system files and has 13 GB of free space. The D: drive has 96 GB of free space and contains the MDBDATA directory which contains a priv1.ebd of 13.4 Gig and a priv1.stm of 6.1 Gig.

I am receiving the same/similar error(s). I am running Office 2007 with W2K3 Small Business Server. I periodically through the day receive various messages about Outlook complaints about me having too many open windows, even if I don't have more than the main Outlook window open. Does anyone have a clue what is causing this? It is sad to have a brand new computer from Dell with Office 2007 and it working more poorly than people in my office using Office 2000.
What gives? Any help would be nice.
This is the error I am receiving most often and don't understand:
"Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing messages you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing."
I have no unsent messages (let alone with attachments), and only one email I am reading and trying to open.
Please help me out of this Microsoft nightmare :-(

Have a look at this forum post the solution worked for someone, I have yet to try and test this with a client who is experiencing similar issues. http://www.tutorials-win.com/OutlookGen/Outlook-limited-485269/
Alternately turn off all Add-Ins in Outlook and see if that works
Let me Know if it Works
